Taken By Storm

Series of photographs originated from 4x5, 120, and 35mm transparency films. The original films are images of still life and portraits. The photographs were soaked in the water of the Hudson River; a result of a flood caused in 2012 by Hurricane Sandy. We chose to keep the original transparencies in the flood water for two years. In 2014 we took out the transparencies and scanned the original film into high-res digital files. The water penetrated the thin layers of the emulsion, causing the colors to dissolve and separate. Molds fermented on the surface and tiny salt crystals emerged. All editions are numbered and signed. The artwork Printing and framing are on demand.
